AHHH!!!!

So remember my last post?? Well, it didn't last very long because

SISTER CHRISTENSEN IS COMING HOME IN JUST TWO SHORT WEEKS...
in other words:

Life is just going to keep getting busier around here as we anticipate the arrival of our missionary!
We're pretty excited!!!

Finally....

My life is about to slow down. Thank Heavens!!
I finished my dental assisting school this week, and that's been such a relief, because I can now focus all my attention and energy to finishing out the semester at UVU. This semester has been pretty smooth, but not without a lot of work that I'm required to do. Crazy how putting your priorities in line can make everything work out, huh?

We are officially down to three weeks until Sister Jordin Christensen comes home from her mission. Which means, three weeks until we go to Mexico! :) I'm so excited for the trip this year. Even though there are so many new people, it's going to be great getting to know all of them. :)

I'm now out looking for jobs, which is crazy, but I definitely need one, because I have things I want to do, and things I want to buy. Money is needed in both. Jobs provide money, it's pretty simple really.

I don't have much more to say, but just thought I would update you about the things going on with me right now, and hopefully you'll be hearing from me a lot more frequently.... :)

McKenzie

My good friend McKenzie, who I'm sure you've heard of on this blog, started her own blog for a class at UVU. If her blog group gets the most views and followers throughout the remainder of the semester, their entire group will receive an "A." So basically, go to this website:
mckenzieryan.wordpress.com
click follow, subscribe to her blog, confirm in your email, and you're done!
Simple? yes.
It's great for all of you interested (or slightly interested) in fashion! :)
Enjoy!

10 Years....

Ten years ago:

*I was in fourth grade, Mrs. Sitake's Class.
*I thought my future occupation would be a lawyer.
*My Best Friends' name was Halee Clement.
*I was SO excited to be turning 10 years old.

*September 11th happened.*

Although I didn't know what the World Trade Center was, or what a terrorist was. I remember being overcome with extreme fear. I remember thinking that somebody out there hated America.
Pictures like this just increased my fear.

Pictures like this gave me, and still give me hope. Hope to rise above the tragedies that face us. Althought this beloved NYC and World landmark was destroyed, to what they called Ground Zero, it wouldn't destroy the people affected by this historic day.

Today:
*I'm a sophmore in COLLEGE.
*My future occupation is a Dental Hygienist.
*My Best Friend's name is McKenzie Buss.
*I'm SO excited to be turning 20 in just a few short weeks.

Even with the big changes that happened in MY life. NYC has changed dramatically.
While I was in New York this past summer, we went to the World Trade Center site. The people no longer call it Ground Zero. They believe in rebuilding, not dwelling. Not only are they rebuilding, but rebuilding stronger, taller, and proving to the world that America can not be completely destroyed.

This proves an important message in my own life. Tragedies WILL happen. Things we don't expect or want WILL happen. It's how we rise above it and REBUILD that matters. We can feel like we're torn down at times, but we're not destroyed. We can become stronger from the things that happen to us.

How fitting was it that the NFL kickoff was today. I was so impressed that admidst all the celebrations and commemoration things going on today that the NFL chose to play, and I was impressed at all the respect the coaches and players showed. Red, White, and Blue was definitely represented, especially by the players and coaches representing and playing in NYC.
How AMAZING was this version of the National Anthem. I love Lady-A, but I got the chills. I didn't watch it live, but it was seriously amazing.
GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!

now that school has started....

the blog will definitely be neglected. (sorry. I'm taking 13 credits at school + an 8 hr/weekly Dental Assisting Program, that's 21 hours of school, and approx. 21 + hours of homework a week.....) (I'm not complaing, just giving fair notice to all readers.) Needless to say, the blog will go on the back-burner until I have some time.

But since I love my followers, I will post about my summer before life gets too busy. My summer was GREAT! (way too short, but GREAT!!!)

For all my followers (even those just stopping by) You all know from my last post that I went to NYC, so I'm not going to write anything else about that, because it seems a little redundant.

My summer really was so much fun besides the usual swimming, hanging out with friends, going to movies, spending time outside, staying up late, sleeping in, and the usual summer time activities, but there are some things that were different and definitely fun: ]

Went to some OWLZ games. (I know I'm wearing a Red Sox hat, don't be confused for a little later on.)

Went to the Tim McGraw concert with some friends.

I went to the Spanish Fork rodeo for the FIRST TIME EVER!!!

And last, I was so excited about this one, I could go on for days. If you remember this post , I hinted at going to catch a Mariners game with my cousin. We made it happen in a BIG way. We went to Seattle to see the RED SOX play the Mariners. (GO SOX!!!!) I've always wanted to see them, and I was so excited when I figured out they would be playing the Mariners in the summer. So we made some calls to my FAVORITE cousins (Will and Anika, I mean you.) and made the arrangements and went. SO MUCH FUN. Like I said I could go on and on about this because I LOVED it.

While we were there, we saw some of the fun things you can do while you're there.

Go to Pike's Place Farmer's Market. So much CRAZY stuff, but so cool. :) Definitely worth it.

See the Gum Wall. That's really all it is. A GUM WALL, sick, but crazy what people do to create an attraction.

See the Space Needle. We SAW it, but this is the only view we really got. Lines were too long, and it costed more money than we thought it was worth.

Trust me, Boston was WELL represented. Almost more represented than the home team. ;)

I'm really going to try hard to post as often as I can, but I can't make any promises.

empire state of mind.

So here are the New York pictures I promised. I can't post them all because it feels a little redundant to post on here AND facebook. So check out the complete album here.

and like I did for Vegas, I will post my "New York Must Sees."

1. See a Broadway musical. We chose Wicked (it was awesome, by the way) and we were debating getting cheap tickets to see Mary Poppins or some other not-so-popular show.

2. Go to Toy's 'R US (even without children.) It's tons of fun, plus there's a carousel.

3. Find the Manhattan Temple. If you can. Seriously, if you're not looking for it... you won't see it. Looks like a SkyScraper. Maybe go inside if you would like. :) (hint: it's right by Julliard.)

4. FAO Schwartz (again, without kids.) It's a LARGE toystore on 5th avenue. If you want.... play on the Big Piano. (we didn't, but that's just us.)

5. Go to the Top-of-the-Rock (Rockefeller Center) at night. We were going to go during the day, but the nighttime view was INCREDIBLE. and yes, Top-of-the-Rock, not Empire State.

6. Visit Times Square at night (and during the day too.)

7. Visit Macy's. Not necessarily to buy anything, but just for fun. We found floor 1 1/2, not sure how, but we found it. :)

8. Walk down the expensive stores on fifth avenue (and go in a few of them, just for fun.)

9. Visit SoHo and Chinatown. Pretty self-explanatory.

10. Get New York style pizza. We chose Angelo's (the late show with david letterman), but we've also heard that Grimaldi's in Brooklyn is INCREDIBLE, but the lines are always incredibly long (so prepare yourself.)

(This picture doesn't do it justice.... SO GOOD!)

11. Visit Central Park. This one seems pretty obvious, but it's seriously one of the most interesting places in the ENTIRE city. So much going on, and it's all so different, if you go on a Sunday, you can watch Co-Ed softball games, that's what we did, and I loved it. But, prepare yourself... it's bigger than you think.

12. AND of course, see The Statue of Liberty. We took the Staten Island Ferry (one of the few FREE things in NYC) and we were able to see it pretty well, but if you want to get up close and personal, spend a little bit and you can go to Liberty Island.

Hopefully this didn't completely bore you. I loved this trip, and if any of you ever go to NYC, talk to me, and I'll give you the inside scoop, and maybe beg to come with you. Prepare for the humidity. TRUST me. NO BUENO. and make sure you bring a bag where you can pull it over your shoulder. (I'm an expert now... ;) )

Boring Title

Lots has been going on, but not really....

I know you're wanting to see pictures from NYC, but my computer is struggling, so I'll get them uploaded on Facebook soon. I promise.

First off, this new show has definitely had my attention the last month or so. Any of you watching?? It's called The Voice, and I like it SO much better than American Idol, or any of those other singing shows. Personally, I'm Team Blake, and have been since the beginning. He really has such a strong team, and I'm personally impressed by Dia.

Not only is she a local girl (St. George/Salt Lake) she is really just incredible. You can find her on itunes and all over the internet. Look her up, you'll be glad you did. :)

You all probably know I'm a bachelor/ette fan, but I'm not impressed with this season at all. Ashley is dwelling on something (someone) so stupid (BENTLEY!!!) and it's just annoying me, but I'll keep watching anyway... best of luck to her. Due to the lack of interest in that show, The Voice has been my actual "enjoyment" as far as summer shows go. The finale is next week, and I'm REALLY excited about it. GO DIA!!!

No worries, no job yet for me, but I haven't given up the search completely. Rough days.

AND the NBA Draft is TOMORROW!!!!! Personally, I have mixed emotions about it: Yes, we need some DEFINITE help, but by getting guys through the draft the possibility of some GREAT players leaving (Millsap, Jefferson, Harris etc...) FREAKS me out! These are MY BOYS! It will be very interesting, and I'll probably find a reason to blog tomorrow just so I can state my real feelings about my team's future. I really don't think getting Jimmer would be the best OR worst idea ever.... (See this post.)

P.S. How AWESOME was it that the DALLAS MAVERICKS beat the MIAMI HEAT in the FINALS?!?!?! I know this is like OLD news, but I'm still so excited about it. For two reasons: 1. It's NOT the LAKERS (remember how Dallas SWEPT them?!?!?!) and 2. LeBron (or as we call him, Bron-Bron the Moron) did NOT get the 1st of the "not one, not two, not three, etc." rings. If you can't tell, we're anti-bandwagon teams in our house. It was a BIG day for the city of Dallas, and CONGRATULATIONS!!! Too bad I missed it because I was in an airplane on the way home. :(

Anyway, just a thought since it's been a little while hearing from me. I PROMISE pictures of NEW YORK will be up soon.
